Alaska Building Permits

How Building Permits Work in Alaska

The State of Alaska, through the Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire and Life Safety, directly manages the building permit process for commercial and public buildings in areas where a local jurisdiction (Borough or City) has not been certified to do so. In these "non-exempt" areas, builders must submit plans directly to the state for review and issuance.
