How permitting works in New Jersey

New Jersey cities have a mandatory role under the Uniform Construction Code (UCC). Each city must appoint "Subcode Officials" (for electric, plumbing, fire, etc.) who are responsible for reviewing every aspect of a permit application to ensure absolute compliance with state safety laws.
