Colorado Building Permits

Home Rule; Cities/Counties adopt independent codes.

How Building Permits Work in Colorado

As a "Home Rule" state, Colorado's state government has a very limited role in the permitting process. It does not mandate a statewide building code for private residential construction, leaving the choice of code adoption and the entirety of the permitting administration to the discretion of individual cities and counties.
