How permitting works in Colorado
Due to Colorado's "Home Rule" status, cities have nearly total autonomy. The city's role is to act as an independent legislative body that adopts, amends, and enforces its own chosen building codes, meaning a project in one city may face entirely different technical requirements than a project in a neighboring city.
